I was watching Youtube videos (like I often do lol) and came across the new "Video Phone, Remix" music video which stars of course Beyonce and Lady Gaga. I watched it and was a tad bit confused but all in all it wasn't a horrible video. I really liked many of the makeup looks Miss Bey sported and hair. Well after watching the video I scrolled down to see what my fellow Youtuber thought of the video and I all saw was negative comments about Lady Gaga. Now we all know Youtube is not the most forgiving environment and some pretty nasty things are said seeming "just 'cause" but dang it was pretty harsh. Many of the comments included, "Lady Gaga sucks", "Beyonce should have never collaborated with that skank" and of course "She's a man right?".
I am just taken aback by the obvious disdain for this girl. I mean she hasn't been around that long and already she has "anti-Gaga" websites and Facebook groups. I will honestly say I like her. I think her music style is unique and she can actually sing. Even though her fashion style is WAY over the top I like it. I like the fact that she is comfortable in her own skin to wear things out of the norm. No you will definitely not catch Shannon in a bubble dress or Kermit the Frog poncho but I say "go on girl!!!" The whole thing about her looking like a man is just crazy to me I must say. I can name at least 10 celebrities that I could swear off took a trip East as John and came back Joanna. I mean Lady Gaga is not super gorgeous in my opinion but she looks alright and definitely not like a man. She just looks like a regular girl who is made up for the cameras. Her makeup is insane though and who ever her makeup artist is I bow at their feet! Her looks may look strange just out on the street but I guarantee if she was walking a Valentino or Dior catwalk she would be considered FIERCE!!
Lady Gaga is different and I guess that's why people don't like her. But I am sure for every hater there are at least two fans that support her and really like her. I am a fan and think she's changing the face of music and once again letting people know it is OK to be different.
